World Tobacco Day was celebrated with a thanksgiving prayer service on 31 May, 2020 at the Centennial Church of the Free Wesleyan Church of Tonga in Nuku'alofa.
This year's theme is ''Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.''
The service was led by the Secretary General of the Council of Churches Rev. 'Ikani Taliai Tolu with readings by the Minister of Health Hon. Associate Professor 'Amelia Afuha'amango Tu'ipulotu and CEO as well heads of divisions that work directly to combat the use of tobacco.
Rev. Tolu also thanked all health officials for their efforts with the COVID-19 preparations and prayed for the Ministry of Health and Government and for the nation as a whole.
